“Jubilee in the Jungle” is a short film following a young a black girl wrestling with the disappearance of her older sister by envisioning herself as a spy on a mission. The film’s escapist mechanism theme is expored through action and spy sequences where Jubilee, her best friend,Renaissance, and her older sister, Mel, fight back representations of grief and stress as they try to figure out what happened to their sister, Devotion. Taking inspiration from Alice in Wonderland and Beasts of a Southern Wild, Jubilee explores her life split between flashbacks, action sequences, and reality with a complex understanding that unfortunately should not be processed at a young age." -- LOURIC RANKINE
